WHY DO WE NEED BIOSECURITY?
- Increasing number of deadly diseases and viruses, some
notifiable.
- Constant risk of major mishaps. Some of these (like KHV) may
cause considerable damage to brand name and bottom line.
- Some diseases (like KHV) are not discernable at lower
temperatures.
- A biosecure system can provide a reliable and consistent source
of fish as it is not susceptible to climate, weather or natural
influence.
HEALTH REGIMEN IN A BIOSECURE FACILITY
- A Biosecure facility is not sterile. Fish interact with common
bacteria & parasites.

- Daily water tests.

- Random independent PCR scans for KHV.
- Treatments: when necessary as well as prophylactic.
